Things to Do in Dahilayan, Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon near Dahilayan Adventure Park!

Looking for an activity to add to your Dahilayan, Bukidnon or Cagayan de Oro itinerary? I would like to suggest 2 places near each other with accommodation options for a laid-back adventure :) Brgy. Manolo Fortich is known as a place for thrill seekers going to the Dahilayan Adventure Park. But have you heard of horseback riding, camping, river trekking and organic farm tour at Alomah's Place? For my two suggestions, the common activities involve leisurely strolls and communing with nature ;) I found myself smiling a lot during this day. Both entrance fees are at P100 per adult.

Perhaps you'd like to start at sunrise like us.

I liked their bamboo playground.

Then you either start the farm tour down

alomahs-place-bukidnon.jpg

or check out the Mrs.' herb garden and collection of mints (no trail required)!

Here you can see lots of plant container ideas and the plants for sale.

Two things to check are the way they used bamboo partitions with labels and up to around 14 types of mint!

There's strawberry mint, peppermint, lemon bergamot mint, orange mint, Irish mint, Moroccan mint

bubblegum mint, chocolate mint, marshmallow mint and many more!

Mrs. Mahistrado recommends this method to smell the difference! Rub the bottom part of the leaf using one finger and smell.

Then move to the next one and use another finger until all fingers are exhausted! Haha. I love the sweet fragrance of strawberry mint most!!!

It's amazing how such a small space can accommodate so many varieties of veggies and herbs. And because they are labeled, a kid or adult can spend a little more time here to get to know them better.

These are overgrown green towers or romaine lettuce!

It's so fascinating how I'm now able to identify a number of edible plants such as ashitaba, oregano, gotu kola. I still haven't gotten to the specific health benefits of each one yet hehe. A lot more farm trips will surely do the trick! ;) I guess being with the Agricultural Training Institute has influenced me to become more appreciative and attentive to the living greens around me.

I also learned that with the proper gear, it's quite alright to head outside and expose yourself to the sun. I highly suggest a jacket or long sleeves and shoes for their walking trail down.

The only shaded part are the rooms, training areas and this octagon house balcony overlooking the beautiful landscape of Alomah's Place property.

If you go around the farm, you'll find decorative flowers, ferns, pine trees

and horses! The owners are rodeo champions and they also offer horseback rides per appointment.

Allow half to one full day or more for this place so that you can chill and enjoy their unlimited organic lettuce, salad dressing (yummy!) and 3-in-1 organic tea that comes with the entrance fee and tour!

Tourists love to go to Dahilayan Adventure Park for ziplining and other activities. It's a separate park from the Dahilayan Forest Park which I am recommending - very near Alomah's Place (~10 to 20 mins away) and right next to the Adventure Park. "It's nestled at the foot of Mount Kitanglad, 4700 feet above sea level."

It looked like a national park abroad when I first entered.

There are photo spots and possible teambuilding activities that comes with the entrance fee.

They also have accommodations available inside.

You just have to walk up and down (easy) for the moderate thrill-seeker activities.

I've tried the Luge in Singapore before and it was lots of fun. It costs a bit more though per round (P600 solo, P800 tandem, P150 extra round).

Since we only had around an hour, I was drawn to the quieter and nearer part of the forest park as usual. Haha.

So you can go down this way and get a glimpse of the Forest Deck.

It could be a great party area if well-maintained.

I loved the pine trees and scattered picnic area!!! I spent majority of my time here just hanging out and thinking about happy thoughts before call time.

This shaded area is also a nice rest stop.

This place could probably accommodate a small wedding if fixed...

Right next to the exit are the dining area and

dahilayan-forest-park.jpg

little store that sells organic veggies =) I think the rates are pretty reasonable but cheaper of course in Alomah's ;)

A bonus side trip could be a photo opp with the infamous Del Monte pineapple plantation when we passed by Camp Philips. Next up is a secret garden in Malaybalay, Bukidnon!
